First Rounds Open for Two of IEC France Categories

The 2014 International Experience Canada (IEC) initiative with France is now accepting Round 1 applications for two of their four categories: International Co-op Internship (Total: 1,200 places) and Young Professionals (Total: 1,200 places).

On May 14, 2013 Canada and France signed a new agreement on youth mobility. With the new Agreement, French citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 will now be able to travel and work in Canada under IEC’s Working Holiday category for a total period of 24 months (formerly 12 months).
New changes to the application process have also been introduced. As of 2014, the application process to participate in the IEC initiative will be conducted in two stages:

  1. IEC Assessment—Stage 1 determines whether you meet the IEC eligibility criteria. It is conducted completely online through an IEC Kompass account. If your application is accepted, you will receive an IEC conditional acceptance letter (valid for 3 months only) via Kompass.
  2. Work Permit Application—In Stage 2, you will be directed to submit an application for work permit to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) using a MyCIC account. If your application receives a positive assessment, CIC will send you a Letter of Introduction to your MyCIC account, confirming you are approved to work in Canada. (NOTE: this letter is not a travel document and it is not your work permit).

Canada currently has reciprocal youth mobility arrangements and agreements with 32 countries including: Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden, and Taiwan.
